Privacy Policy

Overview

Postcards is a personal travel journal app that lets you log countries you've visited, record memories, and unlock achievement badges. We respect your privacy and only collect the data needed to make the app work for you.

This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique account identifier and (if you choose to share it) your name and email address. You can also use the app as a guest without creating an account.

Travel data you create. Countries you mark as visited or wishlist, trip details (season, month, year), notes, ratings, highlights, and cover photos you upload. This is the content of your journal.

Notifications. If you enable Trip Reminders or anniversary notifications, we schedule local notifications on your device. These are not sent through our servers.

We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, location data, contacts, or any tracking data.

How We Store Your Data

Your travel data is stored in Firebase (Google Cloud), under your authenticated account:

Security rules ensure that only you can read or write your own data. Firebase processes data according to Google's privacy practices.

How We Use Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your Choices

Edit or delete entries. You can remove individual trips, postcards, or entire countries from within the app at any time.

Delete your account. Signed-in users can permanently delete their account and all associated data from Profile → Delete Account. This removes your photos, travel entries, and account record.

Notifications. Trip Reminders and anniversary notifications can be turned off any time in the app or in iOS Settings.

Sign out. You can sign out at any time from the Profile tab.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all your data is removed from our systems. Guest data is stored under an anonymous Firebase account; signing out as a guest will leave the data inaccessible.

Children

Postcards is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
